Baby Come Back: 20 Discontinued Foods We Miss

How Many Of These Do You Remember?

From extremely unhealthy granola bars to fast-food favorites, the food industry is always coming up with new snacks to get us hooked on. However, as quickly as they introduce them they take them away, leaving us scrambling to find an equivalent from another brand, but the originals can never be replaced. Here are 20 discontinued foods that will always have a place in our hearts.

1. Kudos Bars

Every kid in the 90s and early aughts got excited at the sight of Kudos bars emerging at soccer game half-times. With flavors like M&M and chocolate chip, they were the sugary-est excuse for a granola bar.

2. Pudding Pops

Pudding pops were essentially frozen pudding on a stick that Jell-O introduced in the 1970s. They had a richer and more chocolatey taste than Fudgsicles. They continued to sell strongly into the 90s but when sales tapered off, they were sadly discontinued.

3. Carnation Breakfast Bars

Carnation Breakfast Bars were granola bars enrobed in chocolate. They were simple but addictive. Carnation discontinued them in 1997, a decision driven by low sales which is baffling to us.

4. Oats N' Honey Bars

Nature Valley still makes Oats N' Honey bars but they're just not the same. The ones from the early aughts were soft and chewy, a texture that agreed with us more than today's crunchy variety.

5. Space Food Sticks

Space Food Sticks were a rod-shaped "nutritionally balanced" energy snack released in the late 60s and sold until 2014. They were invented by the guy who made the first solid food consumed by an astronaut in space. While we're not sure what their basis for being nutritionally balanced was, they sure were tasty, chewy, and full of flavor.

6. McDonald's Deep Fried Pies

McDonald's used to make deep-fried hand pies with apple or cherry filling. The pies themselves were similar to the ones they still have on their menu today, but the deep-frying was just next-level.

7. Taco Bell 7-Layer Burrito

We're absolutely perplexed as to why Taco Bell ever discontinued this piece of gold. Guac, refried beans, cheese, onion, lettuce, and tomato layer up to create the perfect veggie burrito.

8. Taco Bell Caramel Apple Empanada

Whoever came up with the idea of making a sweet empanada was a genius. These caramel apple empanadas were similar to apple turnovers but somehow better. We were gutted to see the end of them.

9. Tato Skins

Tato Skins were an 80s favorite that is sadly no longer around. They were the best chips ever, made from the full potato, skins included.

10. Choco Tacos

We have no idea who would've discontinued this genius snack. A waffle cone taco shell was filled with ice cream, and peanuts, and dipped in chocolate.

11. Nabisco Chocolate Wafers

These nostalgic cookies came in a yellow box and had the word "famous" written across it in large print. They were great eaten on their own or used in icebox cakes. We miss them so much.

12. Philadelphia Cheesecake Bars

Philadelphia Cheesecake Bars were so good, that there was even a petition started in 2023 to bring them back. With layers of cheesecake, graham cracker crust, and strawberry filling, they were a little slice of heaven you keep in the freezer.

13. McDonald's Snack Wraps

The McDonald's Snack Wrap first hit the menu in 2006. It consisted of chicken, lettuce, cheese, and sauce in a flour tortilla. It was discontinued in 2016; however, after public outcry on social media, McDonald's has announced they're bringing it back sometime this year.

14. Butterfinger BB's

Butterfinger BB's were the perfect answer for when you want a Butterfinger, but not a whole lot of Butterfinger. The bite-sized balls of crispy peanut butter filling encased in chocolate were so satisfying to eat.

15. Sobe Elixir

You might remember this drink for its distinct funky lizard logo. The line of fruit-flavored elixirs came in many different flavors and were oh-so refreshing.

16. Trix Yogurt

If you were a kid in the early aughts, you might remember the Trix commercials that always ended with "Silly rabbit, Trix are for kids!" Apparently, you can still get Trix cereal, but the shockingly sweet and bright-colored yogurt is no longer.

17. Ritz Bits S'mores

Ritz still sells their delicious peanut butter cracker sandwiches but the s'mores variety is no longer. The delicious snack was discontinued in 2016.

18. Altoids Sours

We're all familiar with the "curiously strong" Altoid mints that everyone's grandmother always has tins of. However, the sour ones were way more fun, tasty, and colorful.

19. Doritos Jacked Buffalo Wing Chips

Doritos Jacked chips were 40 percent bigger in size and thickness, making them more crunchy and satisfying to eat. Although the company offers buffalo wing-flavored chips, they just aren't as good as the jacked format.

20. Gripz

If you were an early aughts kid, you probably remember these small-format lunchbox snacks. Popular foods like Cheeze-Its and Chips A-Hoy came in these clever one-handed formats that were easy to open and just the right amount.
